The title of the book comes from a partner of mine in days gone by. He arrested a burglar, and, as he was transporting him to the station, this criminal said, “You got photos? You got prints? You ain’t got shit.” At a time when we need proof for everything, I thought the quote was quite fitting. It summarizes our system of justice, such as it is. It also typifies us as a nation, in that none of us seem to accept responsibility for our actions anymore.
